The stuff dreams are made of

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Well I drove the car of my dreams tonight, it was a 2003 Audi A4 V6 3.0L 6SPD manual silver w/ black interior for you women readers. I drove it on the Beltline (equivalent to 355 for you Illinois drivers) like I was on the Autobahn or like I just stole the car (I was doing 80MPH before I realized I was in a 55MPH zone). It was great, the car handled beautifully and I think I have to go check it out during lunch tomorrow.
The big problem was of course the price, I’m not sure it’s something I can afford right now, nor should I since the Jetta’s only problem is it’s extreme lack of power and small size. Otherwise it’s been a great car and I’m sure will continue to be a great car.

Obesity Contagious?

From http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/01/30/175217

My point? We’re all individuals. Some folks are fat; some are thin. Some folks want to blame someone/thing else for lifes woes; some don’t. Some folks are fat for medical conditions beyond their control; some folks are fat because chicken wings is tasty.

EDIT

The best sig I’ve seen in a while too:

I want to die in my sleep peacefully, like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror, like his passengers.

This is the way we roll…

Well I watched a pretty good Sci-Fi movie this weekend with my lady friend, The Island, I’d recommend it. I also decided to watch Harold and Kumar yet again, this movie is growing on me just like Van Wilder. Ironically enough I found out today that they’re going to be making a Harold and Kumar: Amersterdam and a Van Wilder: In Search of Taj. Now that has me elated, which is probably sad. I’m just glad I have my Netflix!

Thanks to the guy in the grey jersey…

I was really hoping to have my back re-arranged tonight since my ankle was finally starting to feel better. I appreciate the fact that your retaliation method for my clean hit was to combine both Charging and a Check from Behind. I hope you enjoy your 3 game suspension after such a cowardly hit. Nice job too since that pretty much sealed the loss for your team as well, “Thanks for coming out!”

On a side note, Chicago was a blast, I had my Chicago style hot dog and my pizza puff and I was like a little kid in a candy store, but now I’m back in the land of cheese.

It’s not as easy as it looks…

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

I get a lot of kudos for my mad computer skillz these days and so I figured I’d give it a break for a bit and try something new. So I’m trying to teach myself to play a guitar and it’s incredibly hard (I’m now awe struck by my brothers ease). I’ve finally understand how to read “tabs” somewhat and understand the fret and string count. I still have no idea what string to hit, but I’m trying to play the beginning of Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple because that’s how both my brothers (who have been playing 10+ years) started. It’s so much fun though, I really want to take lessons now too.

Also, I was able to get my iPOD to work under linux, which was a great accomplishment for me today. Now if I could only get my laptop to work right with the 64-bit version of Linux I’ll be a happy man today. I watched the Constant Gardener today and was pretty impressed, I’d say it was comparable to Hotel Rawanda and would definitely recommend the film.

Lastly, I’ll be headed to Deerfield Tuesday for a client and then downtown Chicago again for another client. Hopefully the ankle holds up all right tonight at hockey.

AMD64 now what?

Friday, January 20th, 2006

So I picked up a new laptop for work. A nice Gateway with an AMD64 chip, in hopes of running both 64 bit Linux and Windows. I find out a couple hours after purchasing that the ethernet card isn’t supported by any Linux distributions by default. Great.

Death by Wasabi?

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

I almost finished all my imitation Wasabi today at Takara when I was eating my sushi. I’m pretty sure next time I’ll be able to take down the whole mess or at least die trying.

I need to see this movie, love those hostel’s.

Genetic Clues to Cause of Death?

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

From the almighty /.Genetic Clues to Cause of Death?:

“I can now announce, after years of research and thousands of mice, that it is possible to differentiate between them having being killed by a blender, a hacksaw or just plain deep-frying. I am now working on staple guns, sulfuric acid and gamma rays but as yet do not have a statistically significant sample because the pet shop has run out of mice and I have had to switch to fluffy bunnies.”

Sassy

Monday, January 9th, 2006

So I’ve had a half dozen people tell me that I’m very sassy today, come on was I really that bad? Anyway, the new Jack Johnson that I downloaded is awesome. Now if I could only make my ankle heal quicker!

Favorite new quote: “Don’t cry. You look fat when you cry.” From Pete Lee. We saw him at the Comedy Club last Friday, he was pretty damn funny.

From sick to hurt

Sunday, January 8th, 2006

Well if it’s not one thing it’s definitely the other right. So, I was trying to keep the puck in the offensive zone tonight when my feet were swept up from under me, I tried catching my balance but in the process twisted my ankle. One players comment was he thought my skate fell off it bent so badly. I continued playing as it just felt stretched, but driving the good old stick shift home I felt it swelling. Now I’ve taken enough aspirin to kill a small child and will be up icing it all night. I’m just glad I have a desk job at this point.

Unfortunately, my brother wasn’t so lucky. He went to the emergency room today which he will spend the rest of the night at least because of…that’s right Mononucleosis. Good old Mono, I remember those faithful two weeks in college, although I wasn’t really at college but more like at home wondering if I’d ever go back. In other news I watched even more movies yesterday. Four Brothers was pretty good actually and I’m also a fan of Spanglish so I’d recommend both right now.

Also, I finally found my calling in life, I just need about 5 years of training before I need to move to Canada and actually start the real training.
